As from 1 April 2009 all Northern Investing for Health Partnership responsibilities have been transferred to the Public Health Agency.
The Investing for Health Strategy sets out the Northern Ireland Executive's plans to improve the health of all our people and reduce health inequalities.
Health and well-being is largely determined by the social, economic, physical and cultural environment. Health policy has so far tended to concentrate on the treatment of ill health rather than on its prevention. This strategy seeks to shift that emphasis by taking action to tackle the factors which adversely affect health and perpetuate health inequalities.
The role of the Northern Investing for Health Partnership is to take forward, at a local level, the implementation of the Investing for Health Strategy, issued by Government in March 2002.
Local Groups
A number of steering groups, working groups and strategy implememtation groups
have been established to progress the Investing for Health Strategy within the
Northern Area.
