“Our health is largely determined by our social, economic, physical and cultural environment”1

In 2009, the Northern Investing for Health Partnership (NIfHP) established the Tackling Inequalities in Health Project (TIHP) in order to increase local awareness and understanding of the wider health, social and economic circumstances that contribute to poor health and social well-being and the lower than average life expectancy experienced by many local people. TIHP aims to pilot with key stakeholders an evidence based approach to tackling local health inequalities and contributing to reducing the gap in life expectancy between the most disadvantaged and the Northern Ireland average.

Tackling Inequalities in Health Project (TIHP) Stakeholder Engagement Workshop

14 December 2009

The workshop will provide an opportunity to learn more about how this pilot initiative can help to increase knowledge and understanding of local health inequalities and contribute to the debate and discussion on how best to address identified local need, in the context of new arrangements (e.g. with regard to commissioning and community planning) resulting from the Review of Public Administration.
